Overland Carts combine the functionality of a wheelbarrow with the power of an electric drive system. The result is an easy to use cart that makes any job more enjoyable. Overland has been developing its electric drive system since 2008. Each component has been carefully selected and put in place for optimal performance and long life.
Top Reasons to Consider an Overland Cart This Spring
1. Overland Carts are user friendly
Overland Carts are very simple to operate. Pull out the red emergency stop button and immediately the lights by the handle will turn on. This let’s the user know that the cart is ready to move and also indicates current battery life. The toggle switch to the left of the E-Stop button allows the user to select their desired direction (forward or reverse). Then it’s just a twist of throttle and the cart will gradually power up to speed. The built in SmoothStart technology keeps the cart from lurching out of the customers hand. The technology makes sure every start is the same regardless of inclines or declines. Once accelerating, the cart will reach a top speed of 3 MPH, the speed of a brisk walk. The throttle can be adjusted based on user preference.
Many of the features found on Overland Carts came from customer inputs and improve the usability of the cart. All power carts apart from the the 4WD carts come with rear swivel wheels. The swivel wheels found on Overland Carts feature no flat tires and allow the cart to have a zero turn radius. Thus the cart can be maneuvered in and out tight spaces with ease. The wheelbarrow bucket can be removed on our basic carts in about 15 seconds via quick release snap pin on the front of the cart. This allows the cart to be converted to a flat bed platform. Another helpful feature is our Manual Mode. There is a lever on the front axle that allows the cart to go in freewheel mode, allowing for the cart to be moved if the cart runs out of power. Even if the cart is sitting without power, the cart can be rotated as needed.
2. Overland Carts are designed with your safety in mind
One of the biggest priorities at Overland is making sure the users are safe. Each Overland Cart comes standard with plenty of safety features. The most popular feature is our AutoLock braking system. This unique system automatically applies an electromagnetic brake when power is no longer applied to the cart. If the power cart slips out of the users hand, the cart will immediately slow down and stop, locking itself in place. This is also a very useful feature when operating the cart on inclines and declines. The cart can be safely loaded and unloaded without fear of the cart taking off. Another popular feature for hills is the HillSense throttle control, this allows the user to adjust the throttle to their liking on both inclines and declines. This prevents the cart from traveling too fast on a descent and keeps the user in control.
All Overland Carts feature AT LEAST 4 wheels for improved stability. Many of our carts feature six wheels (dual ag drive wheels and rear swivel wheels) while our 4WD has eight wheels operating at all times. The extra wheels are positioned to provide maximum load security. The cart can be safely wheeled around even with a full 750 pounds in the hopper. The four wheel design makes wheelbarrow spills a thing of the past. It also makes loading and unloading easier and safer.
3. Hand Crafted in the United States of America
Overland takes great pride in the construction of each wheelbarrow. Every powered cart is hand built in Archbold, Ohio by an Overland Cart professional. The stock steel is cut, formed and welded to the exact specs required for each Overland Cart. The formed steel is then run through a world class powder coating machine. Powder coating the steel helps to protect it and also provides a beautiful finish.
Once the chassis is built we attach the all electric powertrain. The transaxle is from a US manufacturer and features the electric motor and differential. These two critical components are sealed and require zero maintenance over the life of the cart. The next component added is the rechargeable battery pack. This pack features two top tier 21Amp, 12V rechargeable batteries. The batteries are wired in series to create a 21 Amp, 24V rechargable battery pack. The built in charger is then added to complete the electric drive system. The charger is designed specifically for the battery pack we use and can charge the batteries in about 6 hours, although we recommend leaving the charger on overnight. The batteries will last through a normal work day.
The attention to detail doesn’t stop there. Brentwood hoppers are standard on almost all our carts. These hoppers are the best wheelbarrow hoppers on the market. In the almost 10 years of selling Overland Carts, there have been zero warranty claims on the Brentwood hoppers. They are constructed from an extremely high quality HDPE polymer that provides all the strength of steel but at half the weight, and without the risk of rusting.
