Overland Power Carts Releases ALL NEW 950 Series Cart Line! https://www.overlandcarts.com/2021/06/01/overland-power-carts-releases-all-new-950-series-cart-line/ Tue, 01 Jun 2021 14:34:35 +0000 https://www.overlandcarts.com/?p=31486 Overland Power Carts have led the electric power cart market for the last decade.  Over the years we have heard one main request from our customers: “more power for inclines”.  We have answered that request with TWO new lines of carts: the 950 series and the 1400 series.  The 950 series uses a 950 watt 24V motor and has been designed from the ground up for contractors and residential customers who live in hilly terrain.  This blog post will breakdown the key features of the 950 series power carts.  And don’t forget, the 950 Series can be ordered by visiting our ONLINE STORE!

1.  Overland 950 Series – Nearly 2.5X More Power

The all new 24V 950 watt transaxle on the 950 series has nearly 2.5 times the power of our standard 400W motor.  It also features an improved structural design with reinforced ribs running the length of the transaxle.  The new design is optimized for improved straight line speed and improved incline performance.  Overall speed has improved from 3.0 MPH on our 400 series to 3.5 MPH on our 950 series.  That may not seem like much on paper but when you operate the two machines you can immediately tell a difference.  There is noticeably more speed on pavement and grass.  This translates to a more enjoyable operating experience and to getting more done in a day.

With more power comes increased capacities and the 950W motor packs a serious punch in this department.  On hard flat surfaces the 950 series is capable of hauling 950 lb.  On grass inclines, the 950 series is capable of hauling 500 lb.  The incline test involved going up a 100 foot grass incline that ranged from 5 degrees to 16 degrees at its steepest point.   This is a noticeable improvement over the 400 series and it makes the 950 series the perfect choice for those customers with hilly terrain.

While the new 950 series offers plenty of improved power, it still features two of the most popular features found on our 400 series: an open differential and sealed transaxle.  The combination of the open differential and rear swivel wheels allows for a true zero turn radius and exceptional maneuverability in tight spaces.  The second popular feature is the sealed transaxle.  Not only is the transaxle water resistant but it is sealed for life. There is never a need to swap differential oil.  All the moving parts are safely secure in the transaxle housing allowing for worry free operation and improved safety.

2.  Overland 950 Series – The 75 Amp Hr Battery Pack

More transaxle means more battery power.  Thus the introduction the biggest battery pack we have ever put on an Overland Cart, 75 Amp Hr.  This is more than three times the standard 24 Amp Hr battery pack we put on our 400 series.  We also introduced our most rigorous battery testing to date, our MAX load testing.  We put 750 lb in the hopper and did a lap on grass and on pavement.  Then we then did a lap empty.  After each lap there was an alternating break of 2.5 minutes or 5 minutes to simulate a work day.  The result is a cart that we are confident to rate at 7-8 hours of real world use or an estimated 8-9 miles on one charge.

As with all of our battery packs, it is removable via the quick release system.  Simply remove the cotter pin and the rolled pin from the bottom of the battery pack and lift the battery pack up and out.  Due to the weight of the battery pack you will need either two people to remove it or one very strong and motivated person.   The battery pack is made up of two high quality 12V 75 Amp-Hr AGM Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) BatteriesAGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery construction is the latest and best battery construction for SLA batteries.  The batteries feature exceptional performance and longevity.  Overall the batteries are expected to last between 300-500 cycles and in our experience, some last many more cycles than that.  Replacement batteries can be purchased direct from us, from Amazon, or from almost any battery supply store. The batteries can be installed rather easily by using basic tools.  As an added bonus to the AGM construction, there is no need to add acid at any point as each battery is sealed and is maintenance free.

3.  Overland 950 Series – The SMART Charger

The battery pack rightly gets most of the attention when customers are considering electric powered equipment, but the charger is nearly as crucial.  All Overland Carts use smart chargers which charge the cart in three stages, more on that in a moment.  The 950 series comes with an off board 8 amp hr charger designed for industrial applications.  It has been extensively tested by world renowned testing institutions and is UL Certified, CE Certified, TUV Certified and RoHS complaint.  Simply plug the charger into any 110V outlet and the smart charger takes it from there.

400 Series (Left) – 950 Series (Center) – 1400 Series (Right)

The charger’s built in battery management system analyzes the condition and charge state of the battery pack and then charges it in a way that optimizes charge time and also battery life.  This combination allows for the fastest possible charge time while also ensuring the battery pack will last as long as possible. The 8 amp-hr charger is able to take the battery pack from dead to fully charged in about 9 hours.  We recommend charging the cart overnight or after each extended use.  The charger has a trickle charge feature that allows the battery pack to be continually plugged in without negatively affecting the life or performance of the batteries.

4.  Overland 950 Series – The Flat Free Tires

The 950 Series comes standard with flat free dual ag drive tires.  Each tire features a semi-pneumatic design that performs similar to an air tire but does not require inflation.  Semi-pneumatic tires are heavy duty in their construction and consist of a very thick layer of rubber with a hollowed out inside.  The result is a tough and durable tire that will last through even the most rigorous applications.

Each individual tire measures 13 inches in diameter and has a width of 4 inches.  A complete dual ag tire assembly has a diameter of 13 inches and a width of 8 inches.  The width of the tires measure 33″ from tire edge to tire edge when they are mounted on the cart.  Perfect for all around use, the dual ag design has been our most popular tire since our Overland Cart line was introduced in 2008.  The design allows for traction on the most challenging surfaces while still providing excellent performance on smooth surfaces such as concrete or asphalt.  The rear casters are 10″ Flat Free Swivel Wheels.

5.  Overland 950 Series – The Hopper

The 950 Series comes standard with either a 10 cubic foot wheelbarrow style hopper or a 9 cubic foot wagon style hopper. Both hoppers feature a heavy gauge HDPE construction that is lightweight and also completely free from the possibility of rusting.  We get our hoppers from Brentwood Industries which is known through the material handling world as offering the highest quality hoppers on the market.  In fact, in over 10+ years we have never replaced an Overland hopper under warranty.

950 Series 10 cu. ft hopper with power dump

The 10 cubic foot and 9 cubic foot hoppers have an overall width of 36″ making it the widest part of the 950 series.  The 9 cu ft wagons feature the ability to swap a hopper for a flatbed if needed.   Both the 10 cu ft and 9 cu ft. come either with power dump or without power dump.  The power dump option features an all electric lifter that assists the dumping of the Overland Cart.  There is a quick release on the back in case the hopper needs to be dumped in a hurry.

Overland Carts Release a New Line of 4WD Power Wagons! https://www.overlandcarts.com/2020/05/28/overland-cart-releases-a-new-line-of-4wd-power-wagons/ Thu, 28 May 2020 20:41:42 +0000 https://www.overlandcarts.com/?p=30738 Overland Carts is a brand known for forging new and exciting paths in the world of material handling.  The first all electric cart was a wheelbarrow that had a 10 cubic foot hopper.  The wheelbarrow design was an instant hit with our customers but there was soon a demand for a wagon style cart.  This led to the creation of the Overland Power Wagon. The power wagon features a massive nine cubic foot hopper that is only 28 inches off the ground.  Customers love this design because it makes the cart easier to load and unload.  In 2019 we released a version with our popular power dump feature.  It was an instant success and has become one of our best selling wagons.  The continual growth of our Power Wagon line has fueled the new designs that are being released today!  We are proud to announce a new line of 4WD Power Wagons!  Read on for an in depth look at our latest line of carts…  Or skip the reading and SHOP ONLINE!

Our family of power wagons. The new 4WD power dump wagon is on the left, our 2WD power dump wagon is in the middle and the 2WD manual dump wagon is on the right.

1.  Overland 4WD Power Wagon – The Electric Drivetrain

ALL ELECTRIC POWER.  That has been the trademark of every Overland Power Cart since day one.  The basic vision of Overland is to create high quality all electric powered carts that are emission free, fume free, and maintenance free.  We exclusively use high quality components on every part of our electric drive system.  The US sourced all-in-one transaxle features both the electric motor and differential.  Each transaxle is then sealed from the factory which keeps it maintenance free and also protects the unit from any dirt or water.

There are two transaxles on our 4WD power wagons, one in the front of the cart and one in the rear of the cart.  The transaxles have an open differential design which allows for improved performance and turning on flat surfaces.  Powerful, smooth, and quiet, our transaxles represent the best of the best in the world of electric power.  The transaxles are powered by a robust and rechargeable battery pack.

2.  Overland 4WD Power Wagon – The Battery Pack

New for 2020 is the introduction of our 35 Amp-Hr Battery Pack on our 4WD wheelbarrows and wagons.  The new battery pack has a 70% larger capacity than our previous 21 Amp-Hr battery pack.  We also improved the location of the battery pack on the 4WD models by mounting the battery pack off the handles.  This allows for better weight distribution for the 4WD carts and works as a ballast to help keep the cart even more stable when hauling heavy loads.

The battery pack is removable via the quick release system.  Simply remove the cotter pin and the rolled pin from the top of the battery pack and lift the battery pack up and out.  No tools are required but be aware, it is a bit of a brute at 68 pounds.   The battery pack is made up of two high quality 12V 35  Amp-Hr AGM Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) Batteries.  AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery construction is the latest and best battery construction for SLA batteries.  The batteries feature exceptional performance and longevity.  Overall the batteries are expected to last between 300-500 cycles and in our experience, some last many more cycles than that.  Replacement batteries can be purchased direct from us, from Amazon, or from almost any battery supply store.  The batteries can be installed rather easily by following the steps laid out in our Overland Cart 4WD Operator’s Manual.  As an added bonus to the AGM construction, there is no need to add acid at any point as each battery is sealed and is maintenance free.   We expect our battery pack to last 4-8 hours depending on the application and the terrain.

3.  Overland 4WD Power Wagon – The SMART Charger

One of the most underappreciated parts of any electric cart or vehicle is the charging system.  Yet it is one of the most important and frequently used parts of our carts.  As with all parts on our Overland Power Carts, the charger is absolutely top of the line.  We use a three stage smart charger that is certified by UL, TUV and CE safety organizations.  The charger is built into the cart and be easily plugged into any 110V outlet with an extension cord.

The charger’s built in battery management system analyzes the condition and charge state of the battery pack and then charges it in a way that optimizes charge time and also battery life.  The result is a battery pack that charges quickly while ensuring that the battery pack lasts for a long time.  We use a 5 Amp-Hr charger on the 4WD Power Wagons.  This charger is able to take the battery pack from dead to fully charged in about 8 hours.  We recommend charging the cart overnight after each extended use.  The trickle charge feature on our charger allows the battery pack to be continually plugged in without negatively affecting the life or performance of the batteries.

4.  Overland 4WD Power Wagon – The Tires

All 4WD Wagons feature flat free dual tires on all four corners for a total of 8 all terrain tires.  Each tire features a semi-pneumatic design that will never require pumping up with air.  Semi-pneumatic tires are heavy duty in their construction and consist of a very thick layer of rubber and a hollowed out inside.

5.  Overland 4WD Power Wagon – The Flatbed or Hopper

The 4WD Power Wagon comes with two heavy duty attachments; the steel flatbed or the 9 cubic foot hopper.  Both attachments provide unique benefits.  The steel flatbed is built from a heavier gauge steel and features e-ratchet strap pockets on all sides.

These e-ratchet strap pockets allow almost any load to be safely secured to the cart.  The platform measures 29″W x 51″L and is 22″ from the ground.  Position the flatbed with the lip up or lip down depending on the intended use.  The most common use for the flatbed is commercial settings where the flatbed is then customized for specialized applications.  See the below photo as an example.  Other applications would include warehouses or general material handling.  It is possible to purchase the 4WD flatbed version with power dump or without power dump.  The flatbed can be swapped with the 9 cubic foot hopper without tools and in under a minute using the same type of quick release system found on the battery box.

The 4WD Power Wagon with the 9 cubic foot hopper is a phenomenal all around wagon  It features a heavy gauge HDPE Brentwood hopper that is lightweight and also completely free from the possibility of rusting.  We have never replaced a Brentwood hopper under warranty during our 10+ years of selling carts.  They are the highest quality hoppers on the market.  The 9 cubic foot hopper measures 36″W x 62″L x 12″H.  It features the ability to swap a hopper for a flatbed if needed.  As with the flatbed, the cart comes with power dump or without power dump depending on your preference.  The power dump option features an all electric lifter that assists the dumping of the Overland Cart.  There is a quick release on the back in case the hopper needs to be dumped in a hurry.

Overland Cart Testimonial: Shady Creek Greenhouse https://www.overlandcarts.com/2019/06/13/overland-cart-testimonial-shady-creek-greenhouse/ Thu, 13 Jun 2019 14:24:35 +0000 http://www.overlandcarts.com/?p=1282 Jay Schmidt is the manager of Shady Creek Greenhouses in Avera, Georgia. Every June, he oversees the planting of 30,000 mums. Before purchasing an Overland Cart, he had to hire two men to push the nearly 500 pound cart around the planting surface. The exhausting work would wear out the labors out in the Georgia sun. Jay saw this and responded by investing in an Overland Cart. His setup utilizes a 27 inch power chassis with a steel flatbed on top. Jay also made his own custom attachment, putting a trailer hitch on the very front of the cart.

489

One man is now able to the do the work of two with much less muscle strain. Jay uses an extended range battery pack along with a standard battery pack to ensure that the cart always has plenty of juice. He simply swaps the batteries out when one battery gets low. He estimates that on this particular application, the Overland Cart saves him 40%-50% in labor costs. When asked for comments on the cart, Jay was quick to note how easily the cart was to use and how it “works wonderfully”. He wrapped up his thoughts by saying that he “doesn’t know what he would do without it”.

2.  What is an Electric Wheelbarrow?

Electric wheelbarrows are wheelbarrows powered by an electric drive system.  Traditionally this electric drive system includ+es a rechargeable battery pack, electric motor, and battery charger.  The components work together to create a seamless power system.   The electric motor gets its power from the battery pack, once the battery pack is depleted, it simply needs to be charged back up.  Overland Carts use an heavy duty electric motor that includes a transmission which distributes the power to the drive wheels.  The twist throttle controls the speed of the cart.

Overland Powered Carts feature a wide range of hopper sizes, from our 6 cubic foot hopper to our massive 20 cubic foot hopper.  Our most popular hopper is the 10 cubic foot hopper.  This hopper is found on our best selling cart, the EC27-10A.

EC27-10A Power Cart

3.  How does the battery pack work?

Every Overland battery pack is rechargeable.  All Overland Carts come with a built in “smart” charger which ensures that you never need to keep track of the charger!  Once you are done for the day, simply plug the cart into a standard 110V outlet and the cart will charge itself.  The “smart” charger will cycle through 4 different charging modes to ensure the battery pack stays healthy and happy.

We have tested the carts and have found that the carts have about a 6-8 hour “real-world” battery life.  The battery packs are removable and replaceable.

1.  How does the Giveaway work?

2.  Which Overland Cart will I Win?

The cart that is featured in the giveaway is our popular Powered Garden Cart with 7 Cu. Ft. Hopper.

The 7 cubic foot hopper dumps via a spring loaded g-pin on the side of the unit.  Simply pull out the g-pin and lift the bucket forward.  The Garden Cart may look on the small side, but it packs a punch.  The all electric drive system is robust and supplies ample power for daily tasks.  As with all Overland Carts, the Garden Cart can haul up to 750 pounds, over three times a standard wheelbarrow, plus the operator doesn’t have to lift it!  The Garden Cart also features 13″ Turf Tires, perfect for operating on grass and residential surfaces.  Each chassis is welded and powder coated at our manufacturing plant in Archbold, Ohio.  This process ensures that the chassis is both strong and durable.  Our Garden Cart packs all the best features of our Overland Cart line, but in a tightly packed unit.  The width of the cart is only 24 inches and it weighs 155 pounds.

3.  Is the Battery Pack Rechargeable?

Yes!  Every Overland battery pack is rechargeable.  Plus the Garden Cart has a built in charger which ensures that you never need to keep track of a charger, just the cart!  Once you are done for the day, simply plug the cart into a standard 110V outlet and the cart will charge itself.   We have tested the carts and have found that the carts have about a 6-8 hour “real-world” battery life.  The battery packs are removable and replaceable.

Overland Cart Spring Blog Edition: Tackling the FAQs https://www.overlandcarts.com/2018/03/29/overland-cart-spring-blog-edition-tackling-the-faqs/ Thu, 29 Mar 2018 18:40:13 +0000 https://www.overlandcarts.com/?p=28447 Overland Carts combine the functionality of a wheelbarrow with the power of an electric drive system.  The result is an easy to use cart that makes any job more enjoyable.   Due to the wide variety of applications, we get a wide variety of questions. In this spring edition of our blog, we will be focusing on ten of the most common questions we get on our Overland Carts.

Ten Common Questions

1.  How long do the batteries last?

Six to eight hours.  We rate our carts based on real world testing we have done at the factory.  The testing was done on our two wheel drive wheelbarrow and involved traveling on pavement, grass, and inclines.  The weights ranged from zero pounds, to 300 pounds to 600 pounds.  In a survey done with current Overland Cart customers, 89% rated the battery life of their cart as “good” or “excellent”.  As a general note, battery life is variable based on load size, surface type and incline size.   See the below video for more battery testing information.

2.  Can I charge the cart overnight?

Yes!  Each Overland Cart comes standard with a high end “smart” charger.  This charger not only charges the battery pack quickly, it ensures that the batteries are charged in the healthiest way possible.  Not all battery chargers are made equal and there are quite a few chargers that can damage the batteries by overcharging the battery pack.  The charger we use has been tested to meet multiple international standards and uses a four step charging system.   We recommend charging the battery pack overnight after each extended use (more than an hour of drive time).  The battery pack can charge the batteries from dead to charged in less than 5 hours, but the extra time helps the battery pack to be trickle charged.

3.  How long should I expect the battery pack to last and how much are replacement batteries?

The battery packs are designed to last between 300-500 charging cycles.  The range depends on a number of factors such as depletion rate, charging time, and environment.  A majority of customers have had their carts for multiple years without replacing the batteries.  When it does come time to replace the batteries, we make sure that the process is affordable and simple.

The quickest route to replacing the batteries is to purchase an additional battery pack from the factory.  The battery pack is $375 with free shipping and comes pre-wired with two batteries installed.  The battery pack can be swapped out in under a minute without any technical knowledge (see the video below).  The most affordable option is to purchase two replacement batteries and install them into your current battery pack.  We recommend purchasing the batteries direct from a local battery supplier or from Amazon. The batteries can be purchased for $50-$70 per battery, including shipping.  Each battery pack uses two batteries, so the total would be right around $100-$140 to replace the batteries on your own.  If replacing the batteries on your own, be sure to consult the owners manual.

4.  How soon till it ships?

Almost all Overland Carts ship within seven to ten business days of the order being placed.  We manufacture and assemble each carts by hand in Archbold, Ohio.  This reduces lead time and ensures that all the components for the cart are under one roof.  Occasionally heavy demand can extend lead times past the three day window but we work extremely hard to make sure each cart is made to spec and is shipping as soon as possible.   Each cart ships fully assembled.

5.  What’s lift gate service?

Lift gate is a service provided on freight shipments that lowers the freight to the ground.  This option is very popular with residential freight deliveries.  Standard commercial freight ships on large 18 wheel semis.  Commercial freight is generally delivered “dock to dock”.  From the dock at our warehouse to the dock at the commercial location.  Most residential locations do not have the ability to accommodate the size of semi or to offload the freight once the semi arrives.  Lift gate service changes the delivery method to a smaller truck with a lowering gate in the rear.  This allows for easier deliveries to residential areas.  We include free lift gate service for all our carts purchased online.

Lift gate service can extend the delivery timeline for Overland Carts as it requires the shipping company to transfer the shipment at the terminal.  Occasionally the freight company may transfer the shipment to a third party deliver service.   We do our best to secure delivery by reputable and reliable freight carriers.

6.  Can the carts fit through a 36 inch doorway?

Yes!  We commonly get questions about the width of our carts.  Our latest Overland catalog lists the narrowest doorway each cart can fit through.  Our wheelbarrow style carts are generally limited by the hopper size, not tire width.

10 Cubic Foot Wheelbarrow Hopper
The 10 cubic foot hopper is just under 36 inches which allows it to fit through a 36 inch doorway.  The 10 cubic foot hopper is the largest wheelbarrow style hopper we offer.

8 Cubic Foot Wheelbarrow Hopper
The 8 cubic foot hopper is just under 34 inches which allows it to fit through a 34 inch doorway.  The 8 cubic foot hopper is the smaller of the two wheelbarrow style hoppers we offer.

9 Cubic Foot Wagon Style Hopper
The 9 cubic foot wagon style hopper is just under 36 inches which allows it to fit through a 36 inch doorway.

Garden Hopper Carts
Our garden hopper carts offer the smallest overall footprint.  The EC27-7T is just under 24″ in total width.  The EC27-6T is under 26″ in total width.

EC44-6T Garden Wagon Overall Width: 25.5 inches

EC27-7T Garden Cart Overall Width: 23.5″

7.  Are the hoppers going to break?

No.  Our standard wheelbarrow style hoppers are manufactured by Brentwood Industries.  The quality of Brentwood wheelbarrow hoppers are legendary in the concrete industry.  The buckets are made from UV test high-density polyethylene. This polymer is 50% lighter than a comparable steel bucket and with plastic, there is never a fear of rust.  The hoppers can be easily cleaned out with a hose or power washer.  We have never replaced a Brentwood hopper due to a manufacturing defect.

8.  Can the carts go up hills?

Yes!   We have tested the carts on multiple inclines and are confident that in most conditions, the wheelbarrow will perform just fine.  We’ve sold carts to Colorado, Oregon, Washington and other hilly regions.  The carts have performed well in each application.  Each cart has a built in overload fuse.  If the load, terrain and incline ever become too much for the cart, the overload fuse will trigger and the cart will come to a stop.  The overload fuse prevents any transaxle damage and gives the customer freedom to roam without worrying about overworking the cart.  Keep in mind the weight distribution when travelling up or down hills.  Our 4WD (shown below) offers improved incline capabilities when compared to the standard 2WD models.

9.  What happens if the battery dies?

Each Overland Cart comes standard with a manual drive mode.  If the battery dies while the cart is in use, the cart can still be manually pushed.  There is a lever on the front transaxle that engages or disengages the motor.  Simply disengage the lever and push the cart.  Once the battery has been charged, re-engage the transaxle lever and the cart is ready to go!  Another option is to swap in a fully charged battery pack, if an additional pack is available.

10.  How heavy are the carts?

Overland Carts range in weight from 155 pounds on our Garden Cart to 288 pounds on our 4WD Wheelbarrow with Power Dump.  Our most popular cart is the EC27-10A which weighs in at 196 pounds.  We recommend loading the carts into a pick up truck via aluminum ramps.  However, the carts can be loaded by hand with proper care.

And here’s a couple bonus questions…

What is the price range of Overland Carts?

Overland Carts are built from top tier components and constructed by hand to ensure proper fit and finish.  Our entry level residential electric powered garden cart starts at $2,195.00.  The most common line is our commercial series which starts at $2,495 and includes the Brentwood bucket and dual ag wheels.  The Power Dump wheelbarrow features a electric lifter and comes in at  $3,095.00.  Overland also offers a four wheel drive powered wheelbarrow with power dump that is priced at $3,695.

Who is Granite Industries?

Granite is the parent company of Overland and has developed and manufactured the brand since it’s beginning in 2008.  The company itself was founded in 1997 and has built its reputation on heavy duty, USA made products ranging from scaffolding to power carts.  More of the product line can be seen here: www.graniteind.com

Cultivate 2017: Maximize Productivity with Overland Carts! https://www.overlandcarts.com/2017/07/18/cultivate-2017-maximize-productivity-overland-carts/ Tue, 18 Jul 2017 15:05:09 +0000 https://www.overlandcarts.com/?p=1433 Overland Powered Carts Help Improve Safety and Productivity!

Since the first cart rolled off our line in 2008, Overland Carts have been a profit generator for companies.  The increased cart capacity (750 lbs) and increased hopper capacity (10 cu. ft.) combine to reduce job labor times.  The all electric drivetrain provides ample power which reduces stress on joints and backs.  This creates a safer and faster way to get landscape jobs done!

1.  Boost Job Site Efficiency – Get more done, faster.

Overland Carts were designed to solve a material handling problem.  Standard wheelbarrows are limited either by how much the user can lift or by the hopper capacity.  This results in more trips and more strain.   The electric powered drivetrain found on Overland Carts solves that problem.   The drivetrain provides robust power from the first turn of the throttle.  Electric power means clean and full power at all times.  There is need to rev up a gas engine, the electric motor smoothly delivers consistent, strong power.  The 750 pound cart capacity covers almost any material.  For comparison, a 10 cubic foot load of moist dirt weighs 780 lbs.

2.  Improve Safety – Safe workers are happy workers

Wheelbarrows are an efficient way to haul heavy loads but they put a significant load on the operator.  The result can be back strain or fatigue.  We published an article on the safety concerns from repeated wheelbarrow use.  The Overland motorized wheelbarrow changes that.   With a turn of the throttle, the 750 lb load is moving forward.  The power wheelbarrow minimizes back strain and fatigue.  This is especially helpful in hot summer months where the Overland can help reduce the risk of heat stroke.

3.   Zero Emissions – Zero Maintenance

Motorized wheelbarrows save time, money and labor. However, not all motorized wheelbarrows are created equal, electric power presents numerous clear advantages over gasoline.  The electric powered wheelbarrows are emission free.  They are also nearly silent in their operation.  This allows for starting a job earlier with less noise disturbance in quiet neighborhoods.  One additional advantage when compared to gas powered carts involves the necessary maintenance.  Overland Powered Carts are maintenance free.  Just remember to plug the wheelbarrow in overnight and the battery will be fully charged for the day.  There are no oil or air filters to change, squeaky belts to replace or gas cans to haul around.  Spend less time doing maintenance and more time working.

4.  Versatile Platform – Endless Possibilities

Overland took plenty of time developing the powered chassis.   The drivetrain is so easy to operate and so powerful, customers have found tons of uses for the cart.  The versatility is increase even more when the wheelbarrow hopper is removed.  This is a 10 second operation on most carts.  The result is a base chassis.  A full line of accessories are available to ensure your investment is maximized. Overland offers a flat steel platform that easily attaches to the cart.  A simple piece of plywood is a good solution as well, once mounted in place.  Overland also offers a side dump mount that allows the hopper to be rotated for dumping along a flower bed.

5.  Warranty – Invest with confidence

Each component of the Overland Cart is built to a heavy duty spec.  The electric motor, bucket and chassis are all tops in the industry.  Overland offers a one year free replacement on all components.  The chassis extends pas that with a three year warranty.  Invest with confidence in the Overland Cart and enjoy profits immediately and in the future.

Cultivate 2017: Everything You Need To Know About Overland Powered Carts https://www.overlandcarts.com/2017/07/14/cultivate-2017-everything-need-know-overland-powered-carts/ Fri, 14 Jul 2017 14:23:18 +0000 https://www.overlandcarts.com/?p=1421 Overland Powered Carts are ready for Cultivate 2017!

The Overland team is very excited to build on its 2016 Cultivate Show success!  Overland has been producing electric wheelbarrows since 2008.  Each cart is built from the ground up in the USA with many regionally made components.  Quality is built into the cart; from the hand welded chassis to the top of the line Brentwood Hoppers.    Every aspect of Overland Carts is made to heavy duty specs.  We hope you will stop by our booth (#0959) and take our cart for a test drive.

Where can I drive an Overland Cart?

Booth #0959.  Yes, it’s all the way in the back, and yes, it’s worth it to stop by!  We will be there Sunday-Tuesday.

What’s an Overland Cart?
An Overland Cart is an electric powered cart, wheelbarrow, or wagon that runs off of an rechargeable battery pack.  The battery pack supplies power to the electric drive motor, which powers the front wheels. That battery pack can be charged via a 110V outlet.  The cart lasts 6-8 hours per charge.

What’s the cart capacity?

Each Overland Powered Cart is capable of hauling up to 750 lbs and up to 10 cubic feet.  The 750 lb capacity far exceeds the usable weight on a standard wheelbarrow (250 lbs).  The volume capacity of 10 cubic feet is double most standard wheelbarrows (5 cu. ft.).  Haul more on each trip with a fraction of the muscle fatigue.  Hopper sizes range from 6 cubic feet on our garden cart to 10 cubic feet on our commercial wheelbarrows.

What’s the most popular wheelbarrow?

Our most popular wheelbarrow is the EC27-10A.  This heavy duty wheelbarrow features a 27″ chassis, dual ag wheels and a 10 cubic foot Brentwood hopper.  The rechargeable battery pack is upgraded to 21A which is almost double the old 12A style.   The blend of increased hopper size along with the 750 pound capacity dramatically improves productivity.

What if I want more traction?

Overland has a 4-wheel drive model that absolutely packs a punch.  The wheelbarrow was designed for applications where additional traction is required.  Exclusive to the 4 wheel drive model: dual drive axles, front and rear dual ags and an articulated chassis.  Check out the video below to see the cart in action!

How does an Overland Cart dump?  Is there a power option?

All Overland Cart features a quick release triggered by a G-pin.  Simply pull the G-pin on the side of the cart and then tip the bucket forward.  Overland does offer a power dump option that uses an electric powered lifter.  The power dump option does allow for a quick release as well.  Check out the video for more information.

Bonus: Cultivate Show Special

The Cultivate ’17 show is the best time to pick up an Overland Cart.  We are offering a show special of $100 off each cart.

Can I shop online before the show?

Absolutely.  Visit: store.graniteind.com to view our full line of electric carts.
